MerchRaise

PM/UX Project

Overview

Challenge

An early-stage startup required a clear articulation of development needs grounded in specific user requirements. This approach was essential for creating accurate estimates, ensuring alignment on both budget and timeline expectations.

Outcome

The final UX deliverables ensured alignment among key stakeholders by providing comprehensive user flows and clearly defining the target audiences for the product. These deliverables established a well-defined scope for each project phase, creating a shared understanding that streamlined decision-making and guided the team's efforts.

Understanding the problem

Why are we doing this?

1

Business Side

Limited resources and an expansive project scope often lead to decision-making paralysis. By establishing clearly defined scopes and phased stages, the development process becomes more manageable, enabling the focused and incremental delivery of key features.

Approach

Discovery

I facilitated a series of strategic sessions with the leadership team to define a clear scope of the engagement by defining a set of deliverables:

  • User Personas
  • Full Mapping of Task Analysis (including CPM)
  • User Journey Flows

The involvement has also required examining http://www.promostandards.org APIs to ensure the new product aligns with the industry standard.

Defining User Types

Partners

Suppliers/Vendors who will receive information from MerchRaise in order to produce, decorate and fulfill orders

MerchRaise Admin

An admin-level user who is viewing and facilitating all orders and production.

API user

Developers or Agency users who will need to integrate MerchRaise with their existing platform

Agency

The agency is an existing fundraising platform, that has many fundraising clients running campaigns through their system, who will in turn use MerchRaise functionality through the integration.

Client

The client user runs campaigns through their chosen (Agency fundraising platform) which could now include branded merchandise.

Donor

The end user is the donor, who will choose to donate at a certain level to receive branded merchandise available to them on the campaign page they are visiting.

User Journeys

Mapping Key Engagements

I conducted user research through interviews and surveys with key audiences to uncover their primary needs and goals for each user type. These sessions yielded valuable primary insights, enabling the prioritization of critical features and objectives for Phase 1 of the project.

User Personas, User Flows, and Task Analysis were delivered to the client on time and under budget.
